REVIEW: Good Japanese food in Singapore: FAMOUS MICHELIN BIB GOURMAND DAN DAN NOODLES IN SINGAPORE - ENISHI

We all went to Enishi after a foodie friend recommended it to us. Hearing that they were awarded a Michelin Bib gourmand in Kobe, Japan piqued my interest, and I wondered if they could bring that standard to Singapore as well. I was excited to try this after being away from Japan for so long.

Address: 10 Anson Rd, #02-85A International Plaza, Singapore 079903
Opening Hours: 11am - 3pm, 6pm - 9pm daily

Walking into this ramen shop brings back memories; most ramen shops in Japan are literally hole-in-the-walls, and this one is no exception, with only 9 seats surrounding the open kitchen. Before we could sit down, we had to choose what we wanted at the counter and pay for it.

Only two types of food are served here: Dan Dan Noodles and Japanese Dashi Noodles.

They are famous for their dan dan noodles so we had to order that. Mine was medium spicy. They had 3 varying spice levels here. The ingredients were arranged nicely on the bowl and were colorful to look at. There were The ingredients shredded chashu, minced pork, white diced onions, fried onions, pickles, and Japanese mizuna. This also comes with an onsen egg which I promptly added right in the middle.

The noodles were also the perfect QQ consistency, soaking up everything! The onsen egg also added a layer of creaminess to the dish. Although mine was medium spicy, it wasn't overly so because the spice level is determined by the amount of red pepper powder used. It was very tasty, so I would recommend adding more.  ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ™‹‍♂️

The staff also recommended mixing the remaining sauce with rice. That's probably how the Japanese eat dan dan noodles.

I haven't had enough dan dan noodles to say whether this was the best, but I would eat it again if I were in the area, but I wouldn't travel down specifically for it. Do check them out if you're craving dan dan noodles near Tanjong Pagar.
