REVIEW: Good Italian Restaurant in Singapore: Al Borgo Italian Restaurant @ Bukit Timah

Al Borgo Italian Restaurant is tucked away in Alocassia Apartments on Bukit Timah Road. They serve authentic, hearty Italian dishes with the quintessential warm Italian hospitality in a comfortable & cozy setting. Some of their must-tries are the oven-baked pizza, specialty pasta, and Tuscan charcoal-grilled dishes such as Fiorentina steak & Italian Sea bass baked in Sea salt. They are also conveniently located near Stevens MRT Station.

I ordered the following:

Spaghetti alla Carbonara
Bacon, egg yolk, and parmesan cheese in light cream sauce
The al dente pasta is coated in a light cream sauce that is flavorful thanks to the bacon and parmesan cheese. I'm not sure if an egg yolk was previously beaten into the sauce; if so, it merely made the sauce richer.

Zuppa di Pomodoro - Tomato soup
This filled approximately half of the bowl; I wish it had filled 3/4 of the bowl. Aside from the quantity, the zesty tastes were pleasant and comforting.

Zuppa di mare
I ordered the Zuppa di mare which was Seafood soup in hearty tomato sauce. There was a lot of seafood in this and the portion was just lovely, unlike the Zuppa di Pomodoro. Even though it was a seafood soup, I thought the flavor was tangier than umami.

Spaghetti di Cartoccio
I had seen the Spaghetti di Cartoccio on their IG and was excited to try this. This came wrapped in baking paper to reveal Mixed seafood (mussels, scallops, prawns, clams & squid). The spaghetti is cooked very al dente and then mixed with the sauce and everything is enclosed in a baking paper packet and baked in a scorching oven. The sauce is superbly concentrated, and the pasta absorbs the seafood tastes! Very excellent!
