What’s in the Bowl?

One thing that sets Cai Ji Fishball Noodle apart is the sheer variety of ingredients packed into each bowl. For $6.50, your bowl will be brimming with:

Blanched minced pork

Two crispy, deep-fried wontons

Two soft and bouncy fishballs

One juicy meatball

Fresh prawns

Plenty of fishcake slices

Tender braised mushrooms

It’s no surprise that when we visited the hawker center in the morning, Cai Ji Fishball Noodle had one of the longest queues. Clearly, this stall is a favorite among locals for a reason.

Curious to try both versions, we ordered a combination of kway teow and yellow noodles for each. Here’s our take on both:

The Teochew Fishball Noodle Dry and Soup dishes are both delicious and satisfying. The dry version is a blend of noodles, minced pork, fishcakes, and other toppings, with a tender, juicy meatball that adds a rich flavor. The soup version is a light yet savory soup with a clear, flavorful broth, combining soft noodles, bouncy fishballs, and the meatball. The soup's savory broth and the addition of braised mushrooms add depth and flavor, making it both hearty and satisfying. Both dishes are enjoyable and satisfying.
