REVIEW: Good hawker food in Singapore: Zhen Zhen Porridge 真真粥品 - Comfort food at Maxwell Food Centre

Maxwell Food Centre is home to many good foods such as Ramen Taisho for authentic ramen and Michelin Bib Gourmand Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice. I have been into comfort food lately, so Zhen Zhen Porridge 真真粥品 really hits the spot. Zhen Zhen Porridge is one of the oldest establishments with over 30 years worth of history, serving some of the best Cantonese-style porridge in Singapore.

The Century egg and chicken porridge was my choice. Served with fried shallots and spring onions on top. The silky-smooth texture of a good bowl of Cantonese-style porridge, as well as Zhen Zhen, is the mark of a good bowl. Porridge is thick, creamy, and smooth, with only a few grains visible inside. This is the result of many hours of boiling. Normally, the Shredded Chicken in the Porridge is tough, but this time it is tender. That's exactly the kind of comfort food I like!
